Course Report - December 23

The rain has been relentless during December and the course has been extremely wet and dangerous, resulting in the front 9 being closed on a regular basis. However the recent winds are drying the course and limited use of the front 9 is now possible. The Majority of the leaves are now down although the front 9 is too wet to use the tractor mounted blowers so the staff are using backpack blowers to remove the final leaves from the course. Winter wheels should now be used on electric trolleys and push trolleys with narrow wheels should not be used.

A tree survey has been carried out on the course after a request from our insurance company. Two dangerous trees have been removed from next to the irrigation tank and tractor shed which may have caused considerable damage if they had fallen randomly due to high winds. (Which would be a welcome change to the incessant rainfall).

The staff have been servicing the course machinery changing oils and filters where necessary. The Greens Drainage has been put on hold as it is impossible to move materials around the course when the ground is saturated. The materials to strengthen the practice nets has now arrived and they should be back in use soon.
